One word summed up tonight’s class…bullfighting! Bullfighting is a style of guard passing in which you quickly dart past the person’s legs in order to achieve side control. The advantage of bull fighting is it gives your opponent very little time to respond to your movements. The disadvantage is that it requires a lot of energy, especially if your opponent is good at defending the bull fighter pass. I happen to like bull fighting, and have been successful with it on a number of occasions. However, it is something that requires far more stamina than I can muster to do it to the exclusion of all other passes, which is what the coach made us do tonight. Even though I was able to pass the guard of several blue belts with it, by the end of the evening, I was pretty tired.
