Tonight, I went against a newer white belt and a veteran white belt. I did well against the newer white belt, submitting him with an arm-bar, sweeping him from the bottom and almost submitting him with a triangle before the match ended. On the other hand, I could tell before the match even started that the veteran white belt would be a challenge. You can sort of tell by muscle tone etc. I was right. He submitted me with several cross chokes that seemed to come from no where. He even cross choked me inside my own closed guard! I think that was the problem. He was threatening me with submissions from unusual positions. That, and he had super strong grips. However, if I can figure out this aspect of his game, I should do much better against him, since I felt like I had better positional control than he did.
