Huge class today. Very few legitimate beginners, though. Still, I like that we drilled a small number of basic techniques a lot of times. Sparring went OK. I got a triangle submission on my first opponent. The second guy was more experienced, and slightly larger than me. Even though he submitted me a couple of times, I at least managed to almost pull off a Wilson pass on him. I think I wasn’t able to complete the pass because I didn’t have enough weight on his bottom leg. That allowed him to scissor his legs in a body lock (dojime), at which point, I immediately tapped. My ribs won’t yet support trying to power out of something like that. Besides, I think if you have to power out of a submission, you’ve probably done something wrong leading up to that point.
