Sparred against a brown belt today. He got full mount on me, but I was able to get back into half guard. I’ll take what little victories I can get at this point, even if he was going easy on me. Actually, he is my inspiration, since he is now in his 50s, having begun learning BJJ in his 40s, just like me. The next guy I sparred with got full mount on me as well, but my mount escape didn’t work on him. Before I could get into proper position, I made the mistake of not keeping my arms in tight, which makes it easier for the other guy to get an arm triangle (kata gatame), or an Americana (ude garami). Something to work on for next time.
