Crazy 88 BJJ Hosts Pro MMA Fighter Wilson Reis For Seminar

The Crazy 88 Mixed Martial Arts Academy constantly stays on the cutting edge of the techniques. No matter which martial art it is, the techniques and the systems that are implemented are extremely innovative. Today (Saturday February 11th) Crazy 88 brought in Grappling and MMA superstar Wilson Reis.

Wilson covered No Gi Guard Passing along with other aspects of MMA Grappling during his seminar.

Wilson is 17-4 in professional MMA competition. He was Elite XC’s 140 pound world title holder and a Bellator Feather Weight tournament semi finalist. Wilson is coming off of a submission win in Brazil and is planning to eventually make the jump to the UFC’s new 135 pound division sometime soon. Wilson is pretty much a “hot prospect” in the sport of MMA and he was really eager to show a lot of the things that he currently uses in preparation for his fights and training. Not only is Wilson a seasoned Pro MMA fighter but he was also a Brown Belt World Champion and has competed at the black belt level in almost every major international BJJ tournament in the world.

Wilson spent time making sure all the Crazy 88 students got the little details that make BJJ work.

Wilson started off with a light warm up that focused on movement and breathing. The seminar started off with set ups to specific high percentage take downs for MMA accompanied by some finishing techniques. Wilson also showed some no gi variations of Judo throws that work extremely well in any type of non gi situation. On the mat the focus was on sweeps and passing the guard into dominant positions. Wilson has a style that works in virtually all three areas (gi, nogi and mma). He broke down his techniques in a very simplified manner so that everyone attending the seminar was able to conceptually understand each position.

Special thanks to Wilson Reis for coming down to Baltimore!

For everyone that knows who Wilson is and was not at the seminar…..YES, he did show the “Wilson Pass” and in a very detailed manner as well. He also showed some of his world famous half guard “stuff” too. Wilson explained how his grappling based game has allowed him to really trust in his techniques because he has to use them in a lot of different situations. He also said he is working on a lot of new techniques in the Gi and cant wait to show everyone. The seminar was a hit and Crazy 88 looks forward to having him back soon!
