The Good Fight – Maryland Grappling Championships Results

Crazy 88 was back on the competition mats again this weekend. This time the squad found themselves in their backyard if you will. This tournament happened to be right here in Baltimore, Maryland at the DuBurns Arena. Unfortunately, as past experiences have taught us, there would not be enough upper belt competitors for the full competition team to attend this tournament. So, Crazy 88 assembled a squad of White Belt Competition Team Member “Hopefuls”. This 20+ man roster was comprised mostly of first-time competitors with a few white belt veterans sprinkled in. Crazy 88 also sent a few upper belts to help coach the team and compete themselves as well. This was a nice miniature warm up for a few of the guys that will be competing in the European Open which takes place in two weeks.

The Roster of Competitors can be found below. As you can see there were a lot of men that signed up for battle!

Lots of guys went out and fought hard. Some came back victorious, others died on their shields in battle LOL! In all seriousness, this was an important step forward for the first time competitors. Getting those first couple of matches under your belt finally allows you to view Brazilian Jiu Jitsu through a different set of eyes. It is an important part of being able to evaluate your self under circumstances that are outside your comfort zone.

Crazy 88 had such a big squad at the tournament, we will just list the “major” divisions that were won this past Saturday at the Good Fight: Baltimore Grappling Championships.

-Blue Belt Open Division
-Purple Belt Open Division
-No Gi Advanced Open Division

The goal as always is to be able to take home all of the Open divisions. It was close!   Congratulations to all of the competitors that came out and fought!  Keep up the good work and remember…Wanting to win is important but preparing to to win is even more important!

Next tournament will be the European Open in two weeks! This will kick off the start of the 2012 IBJJF tournament season. Its going to be a good year!
