The mats during the Black Belt Club class at Crazy 88 on Friday night were very colorful to say the least!
Long time member of the Kids Martial Arts team, Seth Fillers was promoted to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Yellow belt.
This is quite an accomplishment considering the fact that Crazy 88 has had only one other Yellow belt in its 6 year existence. Seth is an exceptional athlete that participates on many different sports teams. On top of that he maintains an excellent GPA (something that is always expected from our Youth Program Members). Seth has been on the competition scene for quite some time and has 2 Kid Pan American medals among a slew of local and regional championships sitting in his trophy case.
The instructors at Crazy 88 have high expectations from all of the students, from the kids to the adults. When someone is moved to a higher rank it is a very big deal. The true development of a student is what is most important. This is why on a promotion like the Yellow belt , you are not only evaluated by the technical knowledge and application but actions on and off the mat. A lot of thought goes into every promotion and the coaching staff of the kids team is anticipating a “growth spurt” in the Youth Program, with students like Seth leading the way. In a rapidly growing sport/ martial art like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the sky is the limit for these kids.
Seth is just now entering into the Juniors Program where he will go from being one of the oldest kids on the mat to the youngest. He looks forward to the challenge! CONGRATS SETH!!!!!
