Today, a true Crazy 88 “casca grossa” was promoted to the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt – Keith Cebula!

Keith started Jiu-Jitsu at Crazy 88, when it was still some mats laid over a basketball court. From the beginning, he never asked for it to be easier and always strove to challenge himself. Despite being able to compete in the Masters division, he always strove to face the Adults. It paid off as he earned himself a Bronze at the 2011 World Championships in the Blue Belt Featherweight division.

Keith is essentially our excuse breaker since he not only started his BJJ training at age 30 but he continued to attend classes and compete, despite having 2 children and a wife (supposedly these things are supposed to prevent you from achieving a high level of competitive success).  Only six other grapplers before Keith have reached the rank of Crazy 88 Brown Belt РMalcolm Vaughan, Timothy Spriggs, Jon Delbrugge, Tye Murphy, Roberto Torralbas, and Mike Atkin.

When he is not at the gym teaching classes, Keith can be found lamenting over violations of the United States Constitution on Facebook. Congrats Keith!

Starting Jiu-Jitsu in his 30's, Keith Cebula put in his time competing everywhere from local tournaments to the Worlds.
