Tim Kent: My name is Tim Kent. I’ve been here at Crazy 88 for about two months. I’m 31 years old. I’ve been a police officer for 8 years. I trained at a couple of other gyms before. I really like it here. I got some good things about the other gyms, but I really think this is a good fit for me just all around. I like doing the stand up, and the grappling is just an all-around good fit for me.
0:24 – The reason I started training here is that I was going to another place before. It was kind of strictly grappling. I really wanted to get all-around; I want to fight eventually, so I would really like to get every aspect of fighting up to par. I want to be good at stand up, good on the ground, and good at take downs. I had another instructor at another school who’s a good friend of mine really recommend this gym, and said it would probably be a really good fit for me.
0:53 – I think the biggest fear of training in general was just coming in here; guys being cocky or muscle heads; not really trying show me anything; just trying to beat up on me; and not really, I guess, having an ego. I really found that that is not here at all. Everybody is super friendly. When you train with people everyone really tries to help each other out. It’s not just trying to see who’s the best, and that’s probably one of the biggest things I like about here.
1:23 – Crazy 88, I really just for the time I’ve been here I’ve seen people who have never trained before, and they really fit in. I see from other people that have been here and instructors that everybody is very welcome. It’s very warming, it’s not an awkward place to be. I think anyone that’s never trained before would be a great fit. I think guys who are super athletic who have trained before would definitely benefit here as well because I think the instruction is just top notch. I think it’s the best in the state, so I think anybody would be a good fit to train here.
