0:00 – Hello, my name is Donnie Nickerson. I’ve been training for about seven years. In my free time I help out with event planning. I’m originally from Dallas, Texas. I went to Bowie State University.
0:14 – I’ve been to other schools and sometimes it’s to the point where everybody is so serious, but here I feel like everything is serious but yet you can have fun at the same time.
0:27 – Because I’ve asked people to come to the gym and a lot of people say, “I have a temper. I don’t want to lose my temper.” Or some people say, “I don’t want to get hit.” So, I would say that’s their biggest fear or losing their temper. And my response to them is that since I’ve been training here, I’ve never gotten into a fight or altercation outside of the gym. So, I feel like training actually helps you with more self-control.
0:53 – Here at Crazy 88, I think the coaches are really good. One thing I notice about the coaches is that you have more of a personal relationship with the coaches. They actually single out what your needs are. If we’re doing the drill, if everybody is doing the drill and there’s one thing they see that you need to work on and need to change up for your style, they’ll actually single you out and have you do something that complements your style. So, I like that too because not everybody fights the same.
1:24 – Everybody has their reason why they may compete or they may not compete but from my experience here, in the advanced class, everybody is good. Everybody is helping everybody progress. Because you’re only as good as the person that you’re working with and the everybody is really great.
