The highlight of the evening was when I sparred with a world class brown belt, who was trying his best to pass my guard, but couldn’t (at least not right away), thanks to what I learned in slice three of lesson 12 of the blue belt stripe one course at Gracie University. He finally succeeded in passing my guard, mainly because he is as strong as an ox. However, he was impressed at how long I held out, and said he thought my technique would have worked against most of the others in class. Actually, I have used that move with great success against several people this week, so I think he was right on the money in saying that. I’m almost done with the side mount lessons. I can’t wait to move on to the guard lessons in a few days. That’s where I think I need the most improvement.
