I worked a bit on X guard today in home room. Later on, during sparring, I was able to try the moves out on a really good blue belt. I was able to succeed in sweeping him several times, but kept forgetting to grab his legs and keep them elevated so that he couldn’t stand back up, which he did repeatedly. Finally, he succeeded in getting past my defenses and passing my guard. It was a good reminder that I have to be sure to secure my gains, and solidify my position, after I get a sweep, or all the hard work trying to sweep the guy will be in vain.
