I have been working a lot on changing my diet, so that I’m getting the right mix of nutrients to help with my training. This is something that I didn’t even think twice about when I was younger, but now, I’m finding it makes a huge difference in terms of energy levels and recovery time. In terms of technique, I feel like I’m getting flashes here and there of muscle memory. That’s good. It means that I am beginning to automatically respond to certain situations and positions without having to think consciously about it. While I’m still not submitting anyone on a regular basis, my defense has improved a lot. For example, I went against the same blue belt that submitted me twice last time, and was able to avoid the traps he had set for me (unlike before, when I walked right into them). It’s nights like tonight when I feel like I’m not crazy for thinking I can eventually get good at this.
