Tonight, I sparred with three different partners. The only one I managed to do OK against was a smaller guy…all the way up until the end, when he caught me in a choke. I was trying to do the Wilson pass again, but I just can’t seem to get it to work yet. I’m sure I’m missing some detail, but I’m not sure what it would be. I’m guessing that I’m not applying enough weight on my partner’s lower leg. Anyway, I think it’s mainly not techniques I’m missing at this point. It seems to be little things, like hand placement in certain positions. For example, I’m working on keeping my elbows in, which runs counter to every other martial art I’ve learned, but makes perfect sense in jiu jitsu ground fighting. Now, I just have to convince my elbows of that.
