Three times is a charm! This past Saturday marked the third occasion that the GOOD FIGHT Brazilian Jiu Jitsu organization came to town here in Baltimore, Maryland. Although this tournament is considered a small event and we were fresh off our trip to the World Championships, Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sent competitors.
At the Du Burns Arena in Canton, Baltimore, Crazy 88 sent six members from its “Experimental Gentleman’s White Belt Competition Team” and three members from its upper belt squad. This white belt team was comprised of inexperienced competitors with most of them able to compete in the Senior 1 division. These brave men did not let there age or inexperience stop them from going out there and fought hard, capturing multiple medals on Saturday. Coach Jon noted that all of the White Belts “fought like a bunch of wild animals” and at the end of the day, all that you can ask is that everyone fights as hard as they can and everyone leaves it all on the mat!
However, at Crazy 88 we are NEVER satisfied with our results and we always strive to improve, so this week in class we will be dissecting everyone’s performance and patching up some of the holes that were exposed.
The upper belt squad was headed by Coach Jon Delbrugge who took home Gold in the Medium Heavy Purple Belt Division and Gold in the Mens No Gi Advanced Open. Coach Jon’s younger brother and River Hill High School student, Devon Delbrugge FINALLY captured the Adult Blue Belt Open Gold. At Crazy 88, winning the Open Division is a certain rite of passage for a competitor and it is a great accomplishment. He also took Silver in the Blue Belt Middleweight division. Jeff Mueller took home the Bronze medal in the Adult Blue Belt Open.
Keep checking back for updates as we are sending teams to Grapplers Quest in New Jersey as well as NAGA Virginia Beach next weekend. THE GRIND CONTINUES!!!!!!
